One suspect is in custody after a police pursuit that ended with a crash in St. Clair County.

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Franklin County Deputies discovered a 2000 Ford Mustang abandoned on Lollar Branch Rd that was stolen from St. Clair.

During an investigation a witness was located and information about a suspect and a second stolen vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Silverado, was obtained.

While responding to the area, deputies observed the Chevy Silverado in question traveling the opposite direction on Highway WW in St. Clair.

Authorities then proceeded to turn around and attempted to stop the truck but the driver refused.

A pursuit began and the vehicle eventually crashed in the Anaconda area, five miles from where the pursuit started.

The suspects ran out the car and into a wooded area as deputies searched the area around 8:45 p.m. One of the suspects was taken into custody without incident.

Blake G. Schuster, 19, has been charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and felony resisting arrest.

Schuster’s bond is set at $30,000.

This investigation is ongoing as authorities work to locate the second suspect involved.
