Another St. Louis church raided by thieves

SAINT LOUIS, Missouri (KMOV) – Another church is a target of crime by criminals. Leaders of the Newstead Avenue Missionary Baptist Church on North Market St. said someone stole parts out of the church’s A.C unit causing $15,000 in damage.

Roger Hunt is a deacon with the church. He can’t believe someone would do this to his place of worship, but he’s not surprised considering someone just set seven churches on fire last month.

“It's very frustrating but in these times that we live in now, nothing surprises me. When we hear reports of churches being burned. It's a lack of respect not only of God but the church itself,” said Hunt.

Hunt said he’s now thinking of ways to bump up security at the church. He wants people all over to keep a close eye out on local churches so that this doesn’t happen again. Hunt had a message for the person who did the crime.

“We hope that you find and seek help before it gets worse. You think about it. You rob the wrong person something bad may happen to you,” said Hunt.
