(Meredith) -- A college student in California is recovering after police say he was injured during a hit-and-run.

According to KOVR, 21-year-old Austin Dubinetskiy was caught in a sideshow with about 700 cars.

While other cars were doing donuts and tricks, one of the vehicles slammed into Dubinetskiy, then fled the scene, police said.

Officials said police officers are still investigating and trying to identify the driver who hit Dubinetskiy.

As far as Dubinetskiy is concerned, doctors said he will survive, but his road to recovery will be long and difficult.
