Melanie Johnson

Melanie Johnson joined the KMOV News Team as an Anchor/Reporter in April 2022. She is excited to call the Gateway City home.

Melanie was born and raised in Illinois and is happy to be back in the Midwest. Her upbringing inspired her to become a journalist to tell the stories of the voiceless.

Melanie is a proud graduate of the prestigious Howard University in Washington D.C.

She comes to News 4 from New York where she served as the weekend morning news anchor and investigative reporter. Melanie’s accountability reporting helped uncover 300 code violations at Green National properties. As a result, tenants received free legal services and were able to find better housing. Her in-depth reporting also resulted in the unpaid suspension of a Syracuse police officer for excessive force. Her passion to bridge community and law enforcement led her to create a weekly segment where police would answer community questions.

Melanie is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists.

In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering at schools and empowering today’s youth.

Send Melanie a story idea she would love to hear from you.
