Matt Chambers

Meteorologist/Anchor
KMOV
Matt Chambers

Matt Chambers has been called “the Jose Oquendo of local broadcasting.” He’s KMOV’s secret weapon -- a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist, a host, and a producer. And he’s won Emmy Awards under all three of those job titles.

If you ever run into Matt, ask him about his hobbies. He’ll tell you he collects children. “I’m up to six now,” he’ll say with a smile. He relishes his role as a father. Matt and his wife, Stephanie, are raising their SIX children in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

In 2005, Matt joined KMOV as the weekday morning meteorologist, and he still lends a hand in the First Alert Weather Center from time to time. But he’s found a second passion in his role as co-host and co-producer of “News4 Great Day,” airing weekdays at 9AM. He has interviewed hundreds of well-known actors, sports stars, musicians, and artists, including Robin Williams, Will Ferrell, Caroline Kennedy, Hulk Hogan, Mark Wahlberg, Cedric the Entertainer, Gene Simmons, Ozzie Smith, Jon Hamm, Lou Ferrigno, Cloris Leachman, and too many others to list. From flying with the Air National Guard Aerobatics Team, to ziplining, to swinging on a trapeze, to performing on the stage of the Fabulous Fox Theater, Matt will do just about anything on television!

But it all began with weather. Despite a childhood phobia surrounding thunder and lightning, Matt’s fear grew into fascination. He studied meteorology at the University of Missouri – Columbia, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Soil & Atmospheric Sciences, along with a minor in mathematics. Matt serves on the Alumni Advisory Council to Mizzou’s School of Natural Resources.

Before joining KMOV, Matt worked with KOMU in Columbia, MO, and KRCG in Jefferson City, MO. Matt and Stephanie were both born and raised in St. Joseph, MO, and return home to visit family frequently. They enjoy travel, camping, hiking, the water, eclectic Airbnbs, and just about anything FUN!
