Woman dead after crashing into Target store in Brentwood
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - A 21-year-old woman is dead after crashing her car into a Brentwood Target early Wednesday morning.
Police identified the woman as Tegan Donato of South St. Louis. Brentwood police said that Donato was driving south on I-170 when she crossed over Eager Road, struck a curb, struck a grass embankment and then hit the Brentwood Promenade Target.
Police said the crash happened around 1 a.m. on Wednesday and that Donato was already dead when emergency crews responded to the scene four hours later at 5 a.m.
“The time and location of the crash likely contributed to the delay in discovering the wreck,” police said in a statement.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash.
“These events can be impactful to those responding to and we are grateful for the compassion and professionalism shown by our emergency workers, even in the most difficult of situations,” police said in a release. “Our condolences are with Ms. Donato’s grieving family tonight, and we hope to offer an answer to this senseless tragedy as soon as possible.”
