ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - Missouri State Highway Patrol issued an AMBER Alert overnight for a 10-month-old girl taken from St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Just after 3 a.m., troopers canceled the AMBER Alert saying the baby was found and is receiving care at a hospital. Authorities said the mother was taken into custody.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged the girl’s mother Thursday, 24-year-old Jayana Johnson of the 8400 block of Plaza Rock Court, with endangering the welfare of a child. A probable cause statement alleges Johnson took her daughter from the hospital without telling any staff. The girl was admitted to the hospital with 17 bone fractures, pneumonia, and severe malnutrition.

Police said Johnson kept the 10-month-old from authorities for several hours, which resulted in the AMBER alert being issued.

According to authorities, the 10-month-old girl was in critical/unstable condition when she was admitted to the hospital. Doctors said the 10-month-old was in imminent threat of death if medical intervention was not received. Police said Thursday afternoon that the girl is safe.

Johnson is being held on $200,000 cash-only bond.
