Puppies drown in flooding at St. Peters animal rescue
ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOV) – A local animal rescue is asking for help after their puppies drowned in the flooding.
Stray Paws Rescue is located in old town St. Peters on Depot Street off of Main Street. The animal rescue told News 4 that 10 puppies drowned in the floodwaters. The 15 adult dogs at the shelter were brought to dry land by fire crews.
The non-profit organization takes in dogs from other kill shelters and those that have medical conditions. Staff members told News 4 they fought for hours trying to get to the dogs, but high waters prevented that from happening.
The rescued dogs were taken to a local veterinarian. Wednesday, the rescue will work to place those animals in foster homes.
