ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) - Starting Friday, Illinois will suspend the state-wide tax on groceries for a year in an effort to fight inflation.

Lawmakers approved the plan earlier this year. Illinois was one of 13 states that taxed grocery purchases. The tax suspension will be in effect until the end of June 2023.
