ST. LOUIS CITY, Mo. (KMOV) - Two inmates at the St. Louis City Justice Center (CJC) are accused of assaulting a corrections officer in June.

James Brison, 40, and Marcus Ausler, 32, are charged with assault on a special victim and armed criminal action. Brison is also charged with the delivery or possession of a weapon at a correctional center.

The incident happened on June 24. Authorities tell News 4 that the corrections officer escorted an inmate into a housing unit. Brison then exited the housing unit, approached the corrections officer and punched him multiple times. Ausler then also punched the victim too.

Authorities say surveillance video shows that Brison looked towards the corrections officer, then went to his cell, left the cell to speak to Ausler and then punched the corrections officer. Ausler then hung up a phone and followed Brison towards the corrections officer and punched him. Surveillance video showed something in Brison’s hand.

The victim suffered a broken hand and stab wounds to his head, under his eye, left arm, right bicep and lip.

Both inmates have been transferred out of the CJC.
