A pair of Mourning Doves chose to nest in the Ginko tree just outside our screened deck. They never faltered in their devotion to the task and we've been offered a rare glimpse into their world. We've been very concerned for them during these recent storms and high winds. Their little nest seems so insubstantial and no match for what Mother Nature has dished out. Unable to offer anything but prayers and a full bird feeder, we've kept vigil. This morning we were up early to check on them and as if in answer to our concern, there sat mother proudly displaying her baby. Only a quick peek and then back under wing. I can't wait until they teach her to fly....
