Buddy is our 7 yr old Shih Tzu. During the weeks before Christmas as stockings, decorations, the Christmas tree, and presents appeared throughout the house Buddy didn't offer to bother one thing. That all changed on Christmas Eve when my husband was instructed to open one of his presents early rather than waiting until our traditional Christmas morning. As soon as he got the present and sat down on the couch to open it, Buddy immediately went over to "his" stocking and started pawing and barking to see what was inside. The poor little thing was so confused because we kept telling him "no" and the toys in his stocking from Santa didn't appear until the next morning Every year he knows it's time to check his stocking when the presents begin to get passed out. As our daughter said, "That was pitiful mom. No one can open a present on Christmas Eve again." Don't tell me dogs aren't smart or can't reason! Even dogs know when it is time for Santa.
