I started doing this about 10 years ago, sticking with the traditional Christmas look (the dancing lights are cool but not the traditional look, you have to have Santa's and Snowmen. Every year I add something new. All the wood displays are hand made (I usually start making those in the summer)new ideas come year round. Today it is larger than I would have ever imagined. I start decorating the day after Holloween to have ready to turn on Thanksgiving night (sometimes working on them Thanksgiving day to be ready) We usually have 30 -40 people (neighbors and friends) waiting in the street that night for the lighting of the lights at 6:30pm (every year it is the same time) We have hot chocolate and cookies while we watch (kind of a little dessert after the big Thanksgiving dinner. What makes this the most enjoyable is wehn yuo see the little kids lined up at the yard line waiting then in AWWW!!! That makes all the hard work worth it. No donation, just pure fun and enjoyment. The inside of the house is just as festive, we have 6 Christmas trees and many decorative items.
Lights come on 5:30 - 9:30, tune your radio to 89.1 and cruise on through.
