ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A St. Louis temperature record that stood for over 40 years was broken on Wednesday.
“We’ve broken the record high today with a temperature (so far) of 86,” said News 4 Meteorologist Steve Templeton. “The old record was 82 set in 1971. Our temperature today in the mid-80s is typical for the middle of June.”
Templeton said the heat and increased humidity may fuel an isolated storm or two Wednesday evening, with better chances southeast of the St. Louis metro area.
“These storms would be small and isolated, so most remain dry,” said Templeton. “However, what spotty storms do develop may produce some hail and gusty winds.”
Tomorrow’s record high is 80, set in 1945, which should be broken with another day of 80-degree temperatures on tap.
