JEFFERSON COUNTY (KMOV.com) -- A Jefferson County woman still coping with the untimely death of her husband is struggling for closure Thursday.

Mary Morie, who lost her husband 14 months ago, says his grave still has no headstone despite her having paid for it in full.

Morie’s husband passed away in September 2011. Two months later she selected Dave Princivalli to produce the headstone. She paid more than $7,000 to make the monument, and a year later she is still getting excuses.

“He says that it’s only ten hours worth of work to finish the sandblasting and get everything going,” Morie said. “He said ‘I’m not going to promise you but it should be in by Christmas.’ Fantastic- as you see it’s not in by Christmas. Nothing’s done.”

Morie says the December date passed with Princivalli telling her he’d gotten sick. After visiting her husband’s grave in Kimmswick several times a month and seeing it incomplete, she says she doesn’t care what the reasons are, she just wants it done.

“He has the instructions. He has all the money. It’s definitely time,” she said.

News 4 spoke with Dave Princivalli on the phone. While he declined an on camera interview, and wouldn’t show us the progress he says he’s made on Morie’s headstone, he said he’d have the work completed by February 9.
