UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo (KMOV.com) -- University City approved adding more surveillance cameras in the Delmar Loop Monday. Despite the addition of cameras last summer the city is cracking down on crimes like stealing and car break-ins.
Those crimes are among the most frequent in University City.
City Manager Lehman Walker says the police chief has been asking for more cameras, saying they help solve crimes.
Mondya night, the city approved nearly $35,000 dollars in funding for two surveillance cameras to be added to The Loop.
“We want to make sure that the loop continues to be safe,” said Walker. “To ensure that there is not any area of the loop where we cannot address them very quickly.”
Walker also says it’s likely cameras will be added to other parts of University City.
