ST. CHARLES, Missouri (KMOV) -- A St. Charles woman is accused of selling stolen F-16 fighter jet parts on Craigslist.
Rena Werber told police she knew what she was doing was wrong, but was blinded by the approximately $14,000 she was getting for the sale.
Police in Lake St. Louis said the parts, which were sold to NC Servo Technologies in Michigan, were stolen by a Boeing employee.
Werber said she agreed to sell them online for him as long as she got a cut of the money.
Police say the valves ended up selling for about $37,000, which Werber kept $14,000 for herself. The rest went to the man who stole the airplane parts originally.
It was not until Boeing traced the serial numbers that they found out something was wrong.
“We have thefts that occur all the time, obviously, but as far as this type of product or airplane parts, F-16 parts, no this typically does not happen,” said Lake St. Louis Police Captain Chris Digiuseppi. “In fact, this is the first incident I’ve ever come across in my career.”
The man who stole the parts from Boeing died in a car accident in late February. Police say there is no connection between that accident and this case.
