ST. LOUIS (KMOV)—Traffic was backed up on I-55 Tuesday morning after a man fell from an overpass near the Gateway Arch.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Fire Department, the male victim was seriously hurt after he fell 25 feet from the Lafayette overpass around 8:30 a.m.
All lanes of northbound Interstate 55 at the Interstate 44 merger were closed as emergency crews treated the man at the scene, but they have since reopened. The victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment.
The man did not appear to have been hit by any vehicles during his fall. MoDOT is reporting two vehicles were involved in a collision near this incident, but there was no word on what caused the wreck.
