WASHINGTON PARK, Mo (KMOV.com) -- A police standoff in Washington Park dragged on for more than two hours on Tuesday.
Police say it started when a man was seen breaking into his father’s house in the 1400 block of 55th Street.
According to authorities, the suspect was armed with a knife and a hammer and suffers from bipolar disorder.
The Illinois State Police tactical team was on scene, but negotiators took their time trying to talk the man out.
