(KMOV) -- Police in Maryland Heights say a man barricaded himself his house with a handgun after getting into an argument with his wife on Tuesday.
Police said a man and his wife were arguing at a house in the 11000 block of Glenmar around 8 a.m. when the husband displayed at a gun.
Police said officers surrounded the home and negotiators managed to talk the man out of the house after a few hours.
Authorities said children live in the house, but were not there when police arrived.
Maryland Heights Police Chief Bill Carson said such domestic situations can be overly dangerous for everyone.
“A lot of times people’s emotions are running high so it could be very dangerous, especially when you go into a home and there are weapons involved,” said Carson.
It was not immediately known whether criminal charges will be filed against the man.
