News 4 helps voters get results during Election Day confusion

( – With confusion at the polls Tuesday, News 4 has been helping voters sort out election day issues.

In Florissant, there were problems at several polling locations stemming from confusion as to wear voters were actually registered.  

In some cases, voters went to several polling locations and wasted a lot of time before getting it right.

Kahlen Branch started his day at Coldwater Elementary School, but was turned away and told he needed to vote at the Wellington Senior Center. 

When he arrived at the Senior Center, he was told to go back to Coldwater Elementary.

News 4’s Chris Nagus went with Branch back to Coldwater and suggested he fill out an affidavit.

After repeated attempts to reach the St. Louis County Election Office, poll workers confirmed Branch was in the right place when he showed up the first time.

“When we double checked we didn't have him listed there we also didn't have him at the correct address in the palm pilot,” one worker said.  

Branch wasn't alone.

Kenneth Bryant was at this third polling place of the day when he went to Coldwater Elementary. His fiancée, Kimberly, was at her second, and headed out the door to Spanish Lake to make sure her ballot was cast.

“I want to vote so I’m going to go through the frustration and go to as many places as I need to go to get it done.”

Bryant voted at Coldwater after signing an affidavit.

We also spoke with a man at the Wellington Senior Center who had recently moved to the senior center, but was still registered in the city.

He was not offered an affidavit to vote, and went back to his apartment saying he wasn't going to fight it this time around.

As for Branch, he finally got to cast his ballot after bouncing around most of the morning.

“It was worth it,” he said. “It took me all day, I’m glad my vote got in.”
