(KMOV.com) -- Some state representatives in Jefferson City are upset over a new plane for Governor Jay Nixon.
The Missouri Highway Patrol paid more than $5 million for the plane, a Beechcraft King Air 250.
Some Republican lawmakers are up in arms over the purchase, and Tuesday, they tried—and failed—to prevent the governor from using the plane.
“I’m a frugal guy,” said Republican State Representative Mark Parkinson from St. Charles. “I live within my means at home and the state should and the federal government. And right now when we’re witholding money from other programs, you know it’s a large expense.”
Nixon’s office wouldn’t comment on the matter.
