ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A juvenile was taken into custody after police say he carjacked a driver and crashed in north St. Louis Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the incident started at the 3900 block of North Newstead around 8:30 a.m. after police said a juvenile suspect approached a female driver and broke into her Mercury Milan.
Police said the suspect climbed into the driver seat and took off with the woman still inside.
According to police, officers saw the carjacking happened and followed the suspect, who hit at least two vehicles.
Police then put spike strips down near the intersection of Blair and Grand Avenue.
As the suspect approached the intersection of Grand Avenue and North Broadway, he struck an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered minor injuries.
Police did not say if the woman who owned the carjacked vehicle was injured.
Police said after the crash, the suspect got out of the vehicle and started running across Interstate 70. Officers eventually found him hiding underneath a car in the 1100 block of E. John and took him into custody.

The suspect did not appear to be injured, but police said he was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.
