HAZELWOOD, Mo. -- A St. Louis County man is in critical but stable condition after he was blown over the guardrail of an overpass at the height of this week’s storm.
Relatives say 22-year-old John Patrick Duffy’s prospects for recovery are guardedly optimistic.
He was driving home on Interstate 170 in Hazelwood Wednesday night when the storm hit. The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado struck the town.
Duffy was found barely conscious Wednesday night beneath the overpass. He may have been out of his car seeking refuge in a ditch. The car was found on the shoulder of the overpass.
