If I took your money at gunpoint I would be charged with a crime. But if I took your money promising to do a job then disappeared it's pretty unlikely anything would happen. I see it all the time.
This time it's people forking over money to a company promising to fix their roofs but nothing happens.
Amazingly the guy in charge admits to everything, but also says suing him won't do any good.
This investigation centers on a company named Countrywide Shingles. After airing this story, the owner of Countryside Roofing called News 4 to saying he had been fielding questions from concerned customers. The names are similar, but the owner of Countryside Roofing says his company is in no way affiliated with Countrywide Shingles.
