(KMOV) -- A Ballwin woman is accused of driving drunk with her 6-year-old daughter in the vehicle, then assaulting a police officer during an arrest attempt on Jan. 6.

Rachel Wilcox, 27, was charged Thursday with driving while intoxicated.

According to police, a witness called authorities just after 12 a.m. after seeing Wilcox’s vehicle swerving near the intersection of Mid Rivers Mall Drive and Cottleville Parkway. Police found the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after witnessing several traffic violations.

Wilcox’s child was found in the backseat of the car, according to Officer Melissa Doss with the St. Peters Police Department. Police notified the Division of Family Services.

St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar said the child’s father picked her up at the scene.

When officers arrested Wilcox, police say she became verbally and physically combative. According to police reports, she spit on one officer at the scene and smacked another officer in the face at the police station.
