Raw: Suspect slams into tree in during bi-state police chase

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police have arrested a man following a pursuit that started in Brooklyn, Illinois and ended in south St. Louis Wednesday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., Brooklyn officers attempted to pull over a vehicle citing improper registration. Police said the registration did not match the vehicle description.

Authorities said the driver, described as a 24-year-old male, refused to stop and tried to hit the officers with his vehicle. The officers pursued the suspect into St. Louis where he crashed into a tree at Lawn and Fyler avenues in south St. Louis.

After the crash, the suspect exited the vehicle and ran away, police said. The pursuing officers were able to catch the suspect after a short foot pursuit.

According to reports, the suspect suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Authorities said they will seek charges against the suspect for aggravated assault and aggravated fleeing and eluding police.

No officers were injured during the chase.
