PONTOON BEACH, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A male suspect was taken into custody shortly after 4 a.m. Friday morning after barricading himself inside a home near Pontoon Beach Thursday night.

Police say a man, in his twenties, had an argument with his parents which led to him opening fire inside the home on the 100 block of Carla Drive Thursday evening.

The parents were able to get out of the home unharmed and that’s when police say the man barricaded himself inside the home with several weapons.

Police and SWAT teams surrounded the house as the man began firing his weapon randomly.

Police negotiators made several attempts to get the suspect to answer a phone sent  in with a robot, but he did not comply.

After several hours, police were able to get a visual of the suspect, who was found unresponsive inside the home. Police and SWAT members were able to approach the home and take the man into custody, peacefully.

Officers on the scene did evacuate a number of neighboring houses to protect the residents, those residents have since returned to their homes.

Police did find several weapons inside the home.

No reports of injuries at this time.
