CREVE COEUR, Mo. (KMOV.com) – An eight-vehicle wreck caused multiple lanes of southbound Interstate 270 in Creve Coeur to closeTuesday morning.
St. Louis County officials said the accident happened near the Olive Boulevard overpass just after 8 a.m.
According to reports, eight vehicles were involved in what authorities said appeared to be a chain-reaction crash.
Emergency crews responded to the scene to tend to injuries. Police said while multiple people were injured, the extent of their injuries was not known.
While emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage, only two lanes of traffic were getting by. Traffic was backed up for miles.
Crews were able to get the accident cleared just after 9 a.m. All lanes have since reopened.
The cause of the initial wreck was not immediately known.
