WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOV.com) – More than 60 firefighters responded to battle an intense fire inside a Chinese-American restaurant in Wentzville early Monday morning.

First responders were dispatched to the Kwan Yin restaurant in the 1600 block of West Pearce Boulevard, around 6:30 a.m.  The restaurant sits just off Interstate 70 and has been at the location for 25 years, according to Wentzville fire officials.

The fire was quickly upgraded to four-alarms after first responders witnessed the intensity and scale of the fire.  Images from SkyZoom 4 showed heavy smoke and flames shooting from the top of the building.

Altogether, the effort included at least four fire departments with over 60 fire personnel.  Eight pumper trucks and three ladder trucks were also used in the effort.

At one point, officials said, the smoke from the fire was drifting across I-70.  Authorities posted officers on the highway to alert motorists to slow down while passing through the smoke.

No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation.
