ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV)  -- Two people are hospitalized after a fire broke out at a St. Louis city house early Wednesday morning.

According to the authorities, one person was trapped inside the burning home on the 5300 block of Greer when crews arrived shortly after 2 a.m.

Four occupants were able to get out of the home uninjured before crews arrived on scene.

A short time later, firefighters made entry into the home and rescued the trapped victim.

Fire officials say a sixth person was forced to jump from a second-story window to safety. They suffered non-life threatening injuries in the jump.

Firefighters worked to contain the fire while also fighting icy conditions at the scene.

Two victims were transported to area hospitals. Their conditions are not known at this time.

Fire authorities are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
