(KMOV.com) -- Walgreens is moving past flu shots and treating sinus infections at its in-store clinics, and will now offer care for chronic illnesses like high cholesterol, diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure.

Those clinics are run by nurse practitioners or physician assistants.

Critics compare them to fast food restaurants, saying using them once in a while is ok but reliance on them is a risk.

That expanded care will be available at Walgreens in Illinois, but not Missouri because of legal issues.

CVS started monitoring chronic conditions a few years ago.
