(KMOV) – Thieves are accused of hauling away several air-conditioning units from homes in University City.

Police say over the last two weeks, at least a half-dozen units were stolen from homes around the 8000 block of Cornell and Amherst, also known as the “College Streets.”

Authorities say this kind of theft is something that would involve a two-man operation, with the possibility of more suspects.

A spokesperson with University City Police say this is happening in an upscale neighborhood, just one block north of Delmar.

On Saturday night, a man was arrested for having a suspended license in this area. He also had an A/C unit in the back of his truck during the arrest.

Police suspect that the unit was stolen and but it’s currently under investigation.

University City Police are aware of this growing crime trend and are making necessary changes to stop the problem.
