Teen dead after suspect opens fire outside U.City apartment

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV) – A teen was shot and killed outside a University City apartment complex late Sunday night.

Police say a 17-year-old male was standing outside an apartment building on the 6300 block of Olive at 8:30 p.m., when a suspect approached the victim and opened fire.

He was shot in the stomach several times before the suspect fled on foot.

Police say there were two other people standing with the victim but there are no other reports of injuries.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The suspect has been described by authorities as being a black male between 18-22 years of age and standing at 5'8" to 5'11" in height. He was reportedly wearing jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
