ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis County police officer is being investigated for the possible use of excessive force on a woman in north St. Louis County. The incident in question was captured on camera.
Police said they stopped a woman who they believed was acting suspiciously along Wheaton Avenue. Officers said the woman told them she did not have any identification and also claim she provided them with a false name.
Police said they then ran the false name and discovered that person was wanted on felony charges. According to police, that's when the struggle ensued.
Authorities said they then attempted to arrest the woman, but she resisted. However, police said they eventually got her into custody, after which she gave them her real name.
Police said a supervisor responded to the scene to investigate the use of force. That supervisor referred the case to the Bureau of Professional Standards for further review.
