ST. CHARLES, MO (KMOV) – Just two weeks after a tornado touched down, the city of St. Charles continues to face problems.
Crews continue in clearing the thousands of piles of debris following the tornado that touched down in St. Charles on June 3rd.
According to the St. Charles Highway Department, the work is far from over as they've had to hire more crews to assist in the cleanup efforts.
According to city officials, the cost is already well over a million dollars for St. Charles County and is expected to grow along with the piles of debris.
However, the county says it has found ways to utilize the mounds of debris.
The Family Arena parking lot has been temporarily made into a makeshift mulch factory, where the debris is being made into mulch to be used for trails and roadways.
The city of St. Charles has announced more plans for debris pickup, however, they ask residents to remain patient.
