ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- St. Louis police warn residents in Dogtown and Princeton Heights of a scam affecting elderly homeowners.

Police said a group of people knock on doors then identify themselves as a real estate broker, utility or construction worker, but they are not.

Police then said while the victim is distracted, a second suspect enters the home and grabs what they can.

Police said the latest incident in the 5300 block of Blow.

Police warn if you are expecting utility workers, they normally call first. If you are concerned that you may be getting scammed, police urge you to call 9-1-1.
