Raw: Toddlers found wandering outside Maryland Heights home

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KMOV) –A newspaper delivery driver found two young children wandering alone in a Maryland Heights neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Authorities said a boy, 3, and a girl,1, were found by the paper delivery driver shortly after 5 a.m. in the 12000 block of Fee Fee Road at Ross Avenue.

Both children had coats on, but the girl did not have on shoes when the delivery driver found them.

Police said the kids were found just outside their own home.  Three adults were found in the house, but the doors were locked. One adult in the home is reportedly the children's father

The children were taken to an area hospital to be evaluated as a precaution. Their conditions were unknown.

Officers responded to the scene and were talking with the adults. There was reportedly a language barrier between the adults in the home and the children. A Spanish-speaking officer was on the scene assisting in the investigaiton.
