Raw: Suspects attempt to run down officers during police pursuit in Metro East

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOV) — Police say four suspects are in custody and another is still on the loose after a vehicle attempted to run down officers in East St. Louis early Wednesday morning.

Police say officers attempted to pull over a vehicle in Brooklyn around 1 a.m.. 

Authorities said the car, which contained five occupants, kept going and attempted to flee the area..

Police began chasing with assistance from another Brooklyn Police Department unit. The chase continued to 13th Street and Bowman in East St. Louis.

Police say that's when the suspects turned around on the one-way street and headed toward the oncoming officers.

Authorities say the officers fired at the vehicle and the suspects stopped.

Four suspects were taken into custody a short time later. One of the four suspects was transported to an area hospital with a leg injury.

A fifth suspect was able to flee the scene and is currently at large.
