St. Clair County, Ill. (KMOV) – Crews were on the scene for a second time Friday attempting to get a semi-truck out of high grass and water after it crashed Thursday evening.

Authorities said the crash happened off of Interstate 55 near Route 111 in St. Clair County. They said the driver was traveling northbound on Interstate 55 and apparently lost control of the vehicle, traveled through a cable barrier, across the southbound lanes and into the high grass and a marsh.

The Illinois State Police said tow trucks attempted to get the semi-truck out of the area Thursday evening but broke their cable because of how deep the mud was around the truck.

Around noon on Friday, crews were able to free the semi-truck from the mash area.

No traffic problems were reported as a result of the crash.
