VELDA CITY, Missouri (KMOV) -- Police said a man is in custody after he held a gun to his girlfriend and brother while barricaded inside their home in Velda City on Thursd.
Police say it began about 11:30 p.m. in the 7000 block of Lexington.
According to police, the gunman reportedly beat his brother with a lamp.
The brother then went to a next door neighbor's house and called police. When police arrived the gunman barricaded himself inside the home with his girlfriend and another brother.
It ended peacefully about 90 minutes later when the three came out of the house.
But a police source says when officers went into the home they found what was described as a "real mess."
There were several items in the home that are believed to have been stolen. Police say the items included jewelry, a television, lawn equipment and parts for air conditioning units.
Police are checking to see if any of the items inside the home match up with stolen items from burglaries in the area.
One police source says all three brothers live in the home.
