ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Powerful winds caused an electrical danger at two homes in Fairview Heights on Thursday.

According to officials, blustery winds caused a tree branch to slam into a power line by two homes near the intersection of Cedar and Buckham around 1:30 p.m.

The power line hit other lines, which sent an energized jolt into the homes.

Authorities said smoke filled the home, but the amount of damage the houses sustained was unknown.

Officials said a grandmother was watching her grandchildren at one of the homes when she noticed the issue and called authorities.

Ameren Illinois crews came to the scene and had to turn off the power to the homes before firefighters could enter.

The issue was eventually resolved.

No injuries were reported.

Additional information was not immediately available.
