ST. LOUIS -- Police in the St. Louis area are investigating a series of smash-and-grab thefts over the past couple days.
The crimes occurred Monday night and before dawn on Tuesday. Thieves struck Subway restaurants in University City and Olivette. Meanwhile, items were taken from a St. Louis convenience store after a vehicle was rammed into the store’s front glass door.
Pine Lawn police pursued an SUV suspected in at least one of the break-ins. The vehicle crashed during the chase and the suspects got away. Inside the SUV, officers found stolen merchandise believed taken from the convenience store.
