ELSBERRY, Mo. -- An eastern Missouri man is jailed for allegedly attacking a teenager who inquired about mowing the lawn, then attacking police officers who were investigating the allegation.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that John Lewis Summers Jr. of Elsberry is jailed on $20,000 cash-only bond. He is charged with disarming a police officer and two counts of misdemeanor assault.

Police say a 13-year-old boy and two older friends on Friday asked Summers if they could cut his grass for $20. Summers allegedly forced the child to drink a shot of vodka, kicked him in the ribs and tried to stab him in the feet.

Police arrived and Summers allegedly pulled a knife on officers and grabbed an officer’s gun. Police were able to subdue the suspect.
