(KMOV.com) – A male school staffer was reportedly attacked at Innovative Concept Academy Wednesday by a 15-year-old student.

According to police documents, an officer responded to the school after being called about a fight on campus.

Upon arriving at the school in the 1900 block of Cass, the officer was met by students who said the employee and a student were in a fight in a third-floor classroom.

The officer discovered the 42-year-old man on the floor bleeding from the head. The student reportedly involved had already fled the scene.

The teacher was transported to a hospital for treatment.

According to school officials, the employee was overseeing students on an in school suspension. Innovative Concept Academy is seen as a last chance school for students who are at risk to go to jouvenile court.

An assault on a teacher is considered a type one offense, which means the student faces a ten-day suspension and is not allowed back into the school until there is a hearing involving the parents.

A district insider tells News 4 the student involved is facing more serious charges.

The suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
