(KMOV) – A new development is planned in Bridgeton which would include demolishing hundreds of nearby homes.

The plan calls for developing an area surrounded by St. Charles Rock Road, Highway 370, and Interstate 270.

Most of the land is already vacant after those homes were previously torn down as part of the Lambert expansion.  If agreed upon with the owner and the developer, at least 130 mobile homes could be destroyed for this new project.

Mayor Conrad Bowers is enthused about the potential for this land. Saying if developed it would produce revenue for schools and fire protection districts.

“It would be good for St. Louis County, it would be good for everyone,” Bowers added.
