Olivette police warn of burglar posing as handyman

(KMOV.com) -- Police in Olivette are warning residents about a handyman who offers to do yardwork, then uses his vantage point to get into homes to steal valuables.

Police say the suspect used the tactic to trick an elderly woman living near Villa Park, to let him into her home, where he later stole from her.

According to authorities, the man is in h is 30’s, about Five-foot-eight, 175 pounds with no upper front teeth.

Police say any individuals who offer to do handywork without having a truck or tools on hand should be treated with caution.

“The warning is be alert,” said Sergeant David Wolf with the Olivette Police Department. “If you see anything suspicious call us right away.”

Police say the victim in the latest case waited before calling police and by the time officers arrived, the suspect was gone.
