Metro officer injured in 2-car collision at St. Louis Hills intersection

(KMOV.com) – A St. Louis metro police officer was injured in an accident Thursday night in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood.

According to authorities, the accident happened at the intersection of Hampton and Milentz late Thursday night.

According to reports, the male officer was driving to work the overnight shift when his car collided with a second vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner, in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood. Police say the vehicle that struck the officer's car failed to yield.

The male officer was taken to an area hospital where he is recovering. The collision broke his leg and suffered a concussion.

The driver of the 4Runner injured their hand but refused treatment.

Police say the driver of the 4Runner was ticketed at the scene for failing to yield.
