New Jersey rookie police officer honored at memorial

ST. LOUIS, Mo (KMOV.Com) - The New Jersey rookie police officer who was ambushed and killed in the line of duty has now been given his department's highest award, the Medal of Honor.

In addition to that honor, 23-year-old Melvin Santiago was also promoted to the rank of detective at his wake last night.

The man who killed him, was shot and killed by police.
