(KMOV.com) -- More than 10 people were injured after a police chase led to a wreck involving five vehicles in north St. Louis Sunday night.
According to police, officers spotted a vehicle taken during a carjacking earlier in the day and attempted to pull it over near the intersection of N. Grand and Cass just before 8 p.m.
The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed and continued until crashing on N. Grand at Florissant. Four other vehicles tried to avoid the initial acccident and were involved in a chain-reaction wreck.
Police said 11 people suffered injuries, three of them children.
Nine people were taken to the hospital. One victim was in critical condition while three others’ conditions were classified as serious.
Others involved in the crash suffered bumps and bruises, police said.
Police said the suspect involved in the crash was taken into custody and a gun was recovered at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
